The Kalmyk Heritage Center recently organized a youth basketball tournament in collaboration with Brooklyn USA Basketball, bringing together young athletes for a day of sports, friendship, and cultural connection.
The tournament provided an exciting opportunity for children and teenagers to showcase their basketball skills while building teamwork, discipline, and confidence. Beyond the competition, the event created a welcoming space for families and community members to come together and celebrate youth achievement.
Through this partnership, the Kalmyk Heritage Center continues to promote the importance of youth development, healthy activities, and community engagement. The tournament also highlighted how sports can bring people from different backgrounds together while strengthening cultural identity and community spirit.
The successful event was made possible through the efforts of the organizers, coaches, volunteers, families, and, most importantly, the young participants. Their enthusiasm and sportsmanship made the tournament a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
Following the tournament, volunteers from the Kalmyk Heritage Center took part in a routine community cleanup alongside Assemblyman William Colton. The cleanup reflected the center’s ongoing commitment not only to supporting local youth, but also to keeping the neighborhood clean, welcoming, and connected.
Together, the basketball tournament and community cleanup demonstrated the Kalmyk Heritage Center’s commitment to youth development, cultural pride, and civic engagement. The events brought people together through both sports and service, strengthening community bonds and creating a positive example for the next generation.
