A Cleaner Bensonhurst: Celebrating Our July Clean-Up Success and Looking Ahead

At the Kalmyk Heritage Center, we believe that preserving our culture goes hand-in-hand with caring for the neighborhood we call home. On July 25, 2026, our community members rolled up their sleeves and took to the streets of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, for a highly successful neighborhood clean-up in collaboration with the office of Assembly Member William Colton.

This event was a powerful demonstration of civic engagement and local pride. Together, volunteers picked up litter, cleared debris from sidewalks, and worked hard to beautify our shared community spaces.

However, keeping our neighborhood clean is an ongoing effort, and we are already planning our next initiatives.

A Call to Students: Earn Community Service Hours at Future Events

The success of our July 25th clean-up was made possible by the incredible energy of our local volunteers, and we are always looking to expand our corps for future clean-up days.

If you are a high school or college student looking to give back to the community while fulfilling your graduation requirements, volunteering with the Kalmyk Heritage Center is the perfect opportunity.

Here is what student volunteers can expect when joining our ongoing beautification initiatives:

  • Official Community Service Hours: We provide signed documentation for all hours worked, which can be submitted to your school or honor society.

  • Letters of Recommendation: For students who volunteer with us regularly and show exceptional leadership, our directors gladly write letters of recommendation for college applications, scholarships, or future employment.

  • Civic Leadership Experience: Build your resume by demonstrating a commitment to local neighborhood improvement and environmental responsibility.

Partner With Us: Opportunities for Corporate & Local Sponsors

As a registered 501(c)(3) publicly supported charity, the Kalmyk Heritage Center relies on the generosity of local businesses and corporate partners to fund our community outreach programs.

Sponsoring our Bensonhurst clean-up initiatives is an excellent way for your business to demonstrate corporate social responsibility, gain local visibility, and directly improve the community where your customers and employees live.

How You Can Help Sustain the Momentum

To keep future clean-up days as successful as our July event, we are actively seeking sponsors to help cover the costs of:

  • Heavy-duty trash bags, brooms, and protective gloves for volunteers.

  • Bottled water and snacks to keep our community workers energized.

  • Custom high-visibility safety vests or t-shirts for our volunteer corps.

Let’s work together to make Bensonhurst shine year-round. Contact our team at (646) 575-4541 or email kalmykusa@gmail.com to discuss sponsorship tiers and how your organization can get involved in our next community event.
